Parksville Physiotherapy and Laser Therapy
At Parksville Physiotherapy Clinic, we strive to provide high quality physiotherapy to address your individual needs. Our emphasis is on decreasing pain, improving function and providing you with the skills to help you self-manage your condition. Ivan, Carolyn, and Chuck provide physiotherapy for orthopaedic, musculoskeletal and neurological problems including acute sprains and strains, arthritis, post-orthopaedic surgeries, back and neck strains and degenerative changes, injuries from motor vehicle accidents, workplace injuries, strokes, vertigo, imbalance and dizziness.
We also perform dynamic gait assessments for Footmaxx prescription orthotics. Orthotics are inserts for your shoes and can be beneficial if you experience foot, knee, hip or back pain. They are made specifically for you based on a biomechanical assessment, a computerized scan and a cast of your feet.
Carolyn has a special interest in vestibular disorders. Your vestibular system helps you maintain your balance and stable gaze. If you have a problem with your vestibular system, you may experience dizziness, lightheadedness, vertigo or imbalance. Common pathologies of the vestibular system include benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, vestibular neuritis, labyrinthitis and cervicogenic dizziness. Vestibular rehabilitation may include the Epley manoeuvre, Brandt-Daroff exercises, balance exercises and gaze stabilization exercises to help restore normal function to your vestibular system.
Your first visit to Parksville Physiotherapy Clinic will include an evaluation to determine the most effective physiotherapy treatment. Treatment may include low intensity laser therapy, ultrasound, heat, cold, electrical stimulation, manual therapy, exercise, traction, balance exercises and gait retraining. We will provide education in an appropriate exercise program, postural correction, body mechanics and contraindicated activities as needed. Your physiotherapist will custom tailor the treatment plan to best suit your needs.
